Mark 8:34-37

Then He gathered the crowd along with His disciples and said to them: "Anyone wanting to follow in my footsteps must first deny himself, then take up his cross to follow me. If you would rather save your life, you will lose it. If you are willing to give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel - you will save it. For what good is it for a man to gain the whole world, but forfeit his own soul? What can a man give in exchange for his soul?"
