Mark 12:28-34a

A scribe heard them debating, and perceiving that Jesus had answered them well, questioned him: "Of all the commandments, which one is first?"
Jesus answered him, "The first commandment of all is this: 'Listen, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is one. You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'
The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There are no greater commandments than these."
"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You have spoken the truth. There is one God, and there is none other but him. And to love him with all my heart, with all my mind, with all my soul, and with all my strength; and to love my neighbor as myself - is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."
And Jesus, realizing how much the man understood, said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God."
