1 Timothy 3:1-7
This is a faithful saying: if a man seeks the office of an overseer, he desires an honorable position. An overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, respectable, hospitable, able to teach; not a drinker, not violent, not a lover of money, but gentle, not quarrelsome. He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. For, if a man does not know how to manage his own family, how will he take care of the assembly of God? He must not be a new convert, lest he become proud and fall into the same condemnation as the devil. And he must have a good reputation with outsiders, to avoid falling into disgrace and the devil's snare.
