1 Peter 1:13-16

Prepare your minds for action; exercise self-control; hope to the end for the grace which will be brought to you when JESUS CHRIST is revealed. Live as obedient children; avoid the patterns of former desires when you lived in ignorance. Just as he who called you is holy - be holy in all you do, for it is written, "Be holy, because I am holy."

Romans 2:6-11

GOD will judge each person by what they have done. He will give eternal life to those who seek glory, honor, and immortality with patient endurance. But there will be wrath and anger for those who live for themselves and who are disobedient to the truth, following evil. There will be trouble and distress for every soul that does evil, first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor, and peace for all who do good, first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For GOD does not show favoritism.

Psalm 25:8-11

The LORD is good and the LORD is honorable. Therefore will he show sinners the way. He gives the humble good judgment and leads them on his path. All the ways of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth for those who are faithful to his covenant and his testimony. Being true to your name, O LORD, you have pardoned my iniquity, though it is substantial.

Hebrews 4:12

The WORD of GOD is living and active; sharper than any two-edged sword; penetrating and dividing soul and spirit, joint and marrow; discerning the thoughts and intents of the heart.

James 5:19-20

Dear beloved, if one of you strays from the truth, and someone brings them back, let them know that the person who brings the sinner back from the error of their way will have saved a soul from death, and many sins will be covered.

Romans 6:19-23

You once gave the members of your body over to be slaves to moral impurity, and to more and more sin. I speak in human terms because you are weak. Now, in the same way, give the parts of your body up in servitude to being made right, for being holy. For when you were servants of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What benefit did you get from those things of which you are now ashamed? The end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin, you have become servants of GOD. You gain the benefits that lead to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of GOD is eternal life in CHRIST JESUS, our LORD.

2 Timothy 1:7-14

GOD did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and wise discretion. So never be ashamed to testify about our LORD, or ashamed of me [Paul] in prison. By the power of GOD, join with me in suffering for the gospel. For he saved us, and called us with a holy calling - not because of anything we have done, but because of his own purpose and grace, which was given us in CHRIST JESUS before the beginning of time. And now he has been revealed, through the appearing of our SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, who conquered death and brought light to life and immortality through the gospel, to which GOD appointed me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher to the nations. It is for this cause that I now suffer, but I am not ashamed. For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep for that day what I have entrusted to him. Hold on to what you have heard from me as a pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in CHRIST JESUS. Guard, by the HOLY SPIRIT which dwells in us, the good deposit entrusted to you.

Phillippians 1:9-11

And this I pray: that your love may flow to overflowing in knowledge and discernment, so you can understand what really matters, and so you can be pure and blameless until the day CHRIST returns. May you always be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through JESUS CHRIST, to the glory and praise of GOD.

Ephesians 1:17-23

I keep asking the GOD of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, the FATHER of glory, to give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation: so you may know him better, so that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, and so you may know the hope of his calling, the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and the incomparable greatness of his power for us who believe. This is the same mighty power and strength he used when he raised CHRIST from the dead and set him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above every principality, and authority, and power, and dominion, and above every name named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. GOD placed all things in subjection under his feet and appointed him to be head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills every thing in every way.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18

Now the LORD and the SPIRIT are one, and where the SPIRIT of the LORD is, there is liberty. And we all, without veil, who see the glory of the LORD as if looking into a mirror, are being made more and more in his image, reflecting more and more the SPIRIT of the LORD.

Romans 1:16-17

I am not ashamed of the gospel of CHRIST, for it is the power of GOD for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then also for the Gentile. The righteousness of GOD, which is about faith from start to finish, is revealed in the gospel. For it is written, "the righteous will live by faith."

1 Timothy 4:1-6

The HOLY SPIRIT clearly says that in latter times some will fall away from the faith to follow the deceiving spirits and demonic doctrines of hypocrites and liars, whose consciences have been cauterized. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from meats which GOD created to be received with thanksgiving by those that believe and know the truth. For everything GOD created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is sanctified by the word of GOD and prayer. If you explain these things to the family of GOD, you will be a good minister of JESUS CHRIST, being nourished by the message of faith, and by the good teaching that you have followed.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

We neither want you to be ignorant concerning those who have died, nor to grieve like those who have no hope. We believe that JESUS died and rose again, and we believe that GOD will bring with JESUS those who have died in him. For we tell you this directly from the LORD: that we who remain and are living at the coming of the LORD, will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the LORD himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with the trumpet call of GOD, and the dead in CHRIST will rise first. Then we who remain and are living will together with them be caught up in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air. From then on we will always be with the LORD. With these words, therefore, encourage one another.

Colossians 1:15-20

CHRIST is the visible image of the invisible GOD, the firstborn over all creation, for by him all things were created, everything in heaven and everything on earth. He created the things we can see, and the things we cannot see, whether thrones or kingdoms or rulers or authorities. Everything was created by him and for him. He existed before anything else, and all things are held together in him. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have preeminence. For GOD was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile all things to himself, and through him to make peace through the blood of his cross, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Ephesians 1:7-10

In JESUS we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins, according to the riches of his grace, which he showered on us in abundance with all wisdom and understanding. He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in himself, to be administered in the fulness of time, under the authority of CHRIST - everything in heaven, and everything on earth.

1 Peter 1:8-12

You love JESUS having never seen him; and though you do not see him now, you believe in him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. You are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Prophets spoke about this salvation and the grace that was to come to you, intently seeking and searching, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the SPIRIT of CHRIST within them was pointing when he testified concerning the future sufferings of CHRIST and the glory to follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have since been proclaimed to you by those who preached the gospel by the HOLY SPIRIT sent from heaven. Even angels are eagerly paying attention.

Hebrews 13:20-21

The GOD of peace brought our LORD, JESUS, the GREAT SHEPHERD of the sheep, back from the dead. Through the blood of that eternal covenant, may GOD equip you with everything you need to do his will, working in you to do what pleases him through JESUS CHRIST, to whom belongs all glory forever and ever. Amen.

Psalm 85:7-13

Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation. Listen to what JEHOVAH GOD says: he promises peace to his people, the faithful; but let them not return to their foolish ways. Salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. Kindness and truth have met; righteousness and peace have kissed. Truth springs up from the earth; righteousness looks down from heaven. Yes, the LORD will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield it's harvest. Righteousness goes before him, and prepares the way for his steps.

Psalm 19:14

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing before you, O LORD, my ROCK and my REDEEMER.

Mark 9:42, 43, 45, 47

If anyone causes a young person who believes in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone attached to his neck.
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter eternal life maimed than to go with both hands into the unquenchable fires of hell.
If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter eternal life crippled than to be thrown with both feet into the unquenchable fires of hell.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pull it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of GOD one-eyed than to be thrown with both eyes into hell.

1 Thessalonians 4:1-8

Furthermore, brothers and sisters, we exhort you in the name of the LORD JESUS, to follow the instructions we gave you on living to please GOD, and that you do so more and more. For you know the commandments we gave you through the LORD JESUS: that it is the will of GOD for you to be holy and to abstain from sexual immorality. Each one of you should know how to control his own body, with holiness and honor, and not in lustful desires like the Gentiles who do not know GOD. And no one is to take advantage of, or to otherwise cheat a brother or sister in this matter, because the LORD will punish those who do such things, just as we have already warned you and solemnly testified. For GOD did not call us to be unholy, but to be holy. Therefore, anyone who rejects this, is not rejecting man, but GOD: the same GOD who gave his HOLY SPIRIT to you.

Hebrews 12:7-11

It is for discipline that you endure; GOD is dealing with you as his own children. For what child is not disciplined by his father? If you have not been disciplined, as he disciplines all his children, then you are illegitimate and not his. Furthermore, since we respected our earthly fathers when they disciplined us, shouldn't we even more submit to the FATHER of our spirits and live? Our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years as they saw best, but GOD's discipline is good for us so we can partake in his holiness. All discipline seems unpleasant at the time and there's no joy in it. But afterwards there is a peaceful harvest of righteousness for those being trained.

Psalm 145:1-7

I will exalt you, my GOD, my KING, and praise your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise. His greatness is beyond measure. Let each generation tell of your mighty deeds; let them proclaim your power. I will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and declare your wonders. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. They will share the story of your wonderful goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

Romans 6:15-18

So, what does this mean? May we sin now that we are under grace and no longer under the law? Absolutely not! Surely you know that you are slaves to whomever you offer yourselves in obedience. The one you obey is your master. And this is true whether you obey sin, which leads to death, or obey GOD, which leads to righteousness. But thanks be to our GOD that, even though we were once slaves to sin, we now obey from the heart the standard of teaching with which we were entrusted. And having been set free from sin, we have become bondservants of righteousness.

Matthew 4:23-25; Mark 3:7-12

The news about JESUS went all over the land of Syria. And as he was going all around Galilee, he taught the Good News of the kingdom in their houses of worship. He was also healing people of all types of diseases and sicknesses, and they brought him all the people who were sick. These people had all kinds of diseases, and they were suffering with much pain. Some of them had demons inside of them. Some were epileptics, and some were paralyzed. JESUS healed them all. He and his disciples went down to the Sea of Galilee, and a multitude of people followed him from Galilee and from the region of Judea, from Jerusalem, from the land of Idumea, from the area across the Jordan River, and from the cities of Tyre and Sidon. They had heard about the things JESUS was doing; so they came to him. To keep the crowd from pressing in on him, he told his students to get a boat ready. The people were trying to get as close to JESUS as they could because he had healed so many people. People with diseases wanted to touch him. But when people with evil spirits saw JESUS, they fell down in front of him and shouted, "You are the SON of GOD!" But JESUS warned them not to tell who he was.

Galatians 2:17-21

If while seeking to be justified in CHRIST it becomes evident that we ourselves are sinners, does that make CHRIST a minister of sin? Absolutely not! If I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a lawbreaker. For through the law I died to the law, that I may live for GOD. I am crucified with CHRIST, so it is no longer I that live, but CHRIST that lives in me. For the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the SON of GOD, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of GOD; for if righteousness is through law, then CHRIST died in vain.

1 Corinthians 1:18-25

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of GOD. For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and set aside the understanding of the intelligent." So what about the philosophers, the scholars, and the critics of the world? GOD has made their wisdom look foolish. In the wisdom of GOD, the world in it's wisdom did not know him, and he was pleased to save those who believed through 'foolish' preaching. The Jews ask for miracles, and the Gentiles look for wisdom; but all we preach is CHRIST crucified - a stumbling block to the Jews, and sheer nonsense to the Gentiles. For to those who are called, both Jew and Gentile, CHRIST is the power of GOD and the wisdom of GOD; because the 'foolishness' of GOD is wiser than man's wisdom, and the 'weakness' of GOD is stronger than any human strength.

Matthew 4:1-11; Mark 1:12-13; Luke 4:1-13

Then JESUS, full of the HOLY SPIRIT, returned from the Jordan River and was immediately sent by the SPIRIT into the wilderness, with the wild animals, to be tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights, during which JESUS ate nothing. When those days were over he was very hungry. The tempter came and said to him, "If you are the SON of GOD, command these rocks to become food." JESUS answered him, "It is written, 'A person does not live on food alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Then the devil takes him into the holy city of Jerusalem, to the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the SON of GOD, throw yourself down from here, for it is written that GOD will command his angels in charge of you to protect you, that they will catch you with their own hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone." JESUS answered, "Again, it is written, "You must not test the LORD your GOD.'" Then the devil takes him onto a very high mountain, and shows him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil says to him, "I have been given the authority to give to whomever I want all of these kingdoms and all of the power and glory which is in them. I will give all of these things to you if you will bow down and worship me." JESUS answered him and said, "Get away from me, satan! For it is written, 'You must worship the LORD your GOD and him only shall you serve.'" The devil ended his temptations and departed from him for a while. And behold, angels came and ministered to him.

Psalm 17

Hear, O LORD, my just cause. Listen to my prayer that does not come from deceitful lips. Let my justice come from you. Your eyes can see the truth. You know my heart. Even in the night you have inspected me. You have tried me and found me innocent. I have resolved to not sin in what I say. Concerning the deeds of man, by the very words from your lips, I have avoided the path of violence. I have followed your path without slipping. I have called on you, O GOD, for you will answer me. Turn your ear to me and hear my speech. Show your marvelous, loving kindness. You save those who come to you for safety from their enemies. Keep me as the apple of your eye. Hide me under the shadow of your wings and keep me from the wicked who oppress me: the enemies of my soul who surround me. Their hearts are callous. With their mouths the speak with pride. They have now surrounded me and watch for a chance to throw me down. They are like hungry lions eager to pounce on me; like young lions ready to ambush. Arise, O LORD, and confront them. Stop them. Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword, and from men by our hand, O LORD, from men who see the world as their reward. But you satisfy the hunger of your cherished ones. And their children have plenty, even enough to store up wealth for their children. As for me, I will see your face because I am innocent. When I awake, all I want is to see you.

James 5:16b-18

The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. Elijah was a person with a nature like ours. He prayed with earnest that it would not rain, and for three and one-half years it did not. Elijah prayed again - this time that it would rain. And it did - and the earth produced its fruit.

Hebrews 13:17

Obey your leaders and put yourself under their authority, for they watch over your lives, and they must answer to GOD. Let it be a joyful task for them, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

Romans 6:8-14

Since we died with CHRIST, we believe that we will also live with him. And we know that CHRIST, having been raised from the dead, will never die again because death has no power over him. For in his death, he died for sin once for all; but in his life, he lives to God. In the same way, think of yourselves as being dead to sin, but alive to GOD in CHRIST JESUS, our LORD. Therefore, do not let sin rule over your mortal body, that you should obey its desires. And do not allow your body parts to be used as instruments of sin. Instead, give yourself to GOD, as people who have been risen from the dead. Use the parts of your body as instruments of righteousness for GOD. For sin will not rule over you because you are not under the law - you are under the grace of GOD.

Colossians 3:16-17

Let the words of CHRIST abundantly live in you. Use all wisdom to teach and admonish one another with psalms, songs of praise, and spiritual songs; singing to GOD with grace in your hearts. And in everything you do, both in what you say and in how you act, do it in the NAME of the LORD, JESUS, giving thanks to GOD the FATHER through him.

James 5:13-16a

Is anyone among you suffering? Let them pray. Is anyone among you cheerful? Let them sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call for the elders of the church to pray over them, anointing them with oil in the NAME of the LORD. The prayer of faith will make a sick person well, and the LORD will raise them up. If this person has sinned, GOD will forgive them. Confess your sins to one another and pray for each other. GOD will heal you.

Luke 2:40-52

As JESUS was growing up, he became stronger and wiser, and the grace of GOD was upon him. Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up to the feast, according to that custom. When the feast days were over, they were returning home, but his parents were unaware that the boy JESUS had stayed behind in Jerusalem. They had traveled for a whole day thinking he was with them in the caravan when they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. But when Joseph and Mary could not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days, they found him. JESUS was sitting in the temple courtyard among the teachers, listening to them, and asking them questions. All who heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. When his parents found him, they were very surprised. His mother said to him, "Son, why did you treat us like this? Your father and I were very worried about you, and we have been looking everywhere for you." JESUS asked them, "Why were you looking for me? You should know that I must be about my FATHER's business." But they did not understand the meaning of what he said to them. JESUS went with them to Nazareth and was obedient, and his mother kept these things in her heart. JESUS continued to grow taller and wiser and in favor with GOD and man.

Jude 1:17-23

Dear beloved, you must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ said would happen. They said to you, that at the end of time there will be people who show contempt, following their own ungodly desires. These are they who set themselves apart, having only a natural heart, not the Spirit. But you, beloved, must build yoursellves up in your holy faith and pray in the Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God, and wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ who brings eternal life. Have compassion on those who doubt. Save others from the fire, showing mercy mixed with fear, hating even garments stained with sin.

Titus 2:11-14

The grace of God, which can save anyone, has now been revealed. It teaches us to reject ungodliness and the desires of this world, and to live godly lives in the here and now, while we wait for our blessed hope: the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave himself for us to pay the ransom for our lawlessness, and to purify for himself a people of his very own that are eager to do what is good.

1 Thessalonians 2:14-20

Brothers, you became imitators of the churches of GOD in CHRIST JESUS in the land of Judea, for your own countrymen make you suffer in the same way that the Judeans make them suffer. They killed the LORD JESUS and the prophets. They drove us out. They are not pleasing GOD and they are contrary to everyone. They tried to stop us from talking to the Gentiles which would keep them from being saved. Their sins continue to pile up. But wrath has finally come upon them. But we, brothers and sisters, having been torn from you for a short time, in person, not in heart, endeavoured all the more eagerly and with great desire to see you face to face. We wanted to come to you, and I, Paul, more than once tried, but satan hindered us. What are we hoping for? What would make us rejoice? It is the crown of our rejoicing before the coming of the LORD JESUS. It is you. You are our glory. You are our joy.

Matthew 12:9-15; Mark 3:1-6; Luke 6:6-11

On a Sabbath day, JESUS went into the synagogue to teach the people. There was a man there with a crippled right hand. Jewish leaders were also there hoping to witness JESUS healing the man on the Sabbath so they could accuse him. JESUS knew what they were thinking, so he instructed the man to stand up in the middle of the room. When he had done so, JESUS addressed them, "Who among you would not rescue even one sheep if it fell into a pit on the Sabbath? A person is of far more value than a sheep, so is it lawful to good on the Sabbath, or to do harm? To save life, or to kill?" But they had nothing to say. Looking on them with anger, and being grieved at the callousness of their hearts, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." As the man did so, it was restored and just as healthy as the other hand. The Pharisees were furious, so they left and began to plot with the Herodians on how to destroy him. JESUS knew about this, so he withdrew and many people followed. He healed them all.

Matthew 5:27-28

JESUS said, "You have heard that it was said, 'You must not commit adultery;' but I am telling you that whoever looks at a woman in lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

James 5:12

More than anything else, dear brothers and sisters, do not swear.
Not by heaven, not by earth, and not by any other oath.
Let your "yes" mean "yes," and let your "no" mean "no." Swearing is hypocrisy.

2 Corinthians 6:1-2

Working together, we urge you not to receive the grace of GOD in vain. For the Scripture says, "At the right time I listened to you. On the day of salvation I helped you. Behold, now is the right time!
Now is the day of salvation!"

Hebrews 13:12-14

JESUS also, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go to him outside the camp, putting on his shame. For here we do not have an enduring city, but we seek the one which is to come.

James 1:26-27

If you consider yourself religious but do not control your tongue, you deceive your own heart and your "religion" is in vain. Religion that is pure, genuine, and acceptable to GOD the FATHER, is caring for orphans and widows in their distress, and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Psalm 25:4-7

Cause me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth, and teach me; for you are the GOD of my salvation. I put my hope in you all the day long. Remember, O LORD, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ago. Remember not the sins of my youth or my rebellion. LORD, remember me according to your loving kindness for the sake of your goodness.

2 John 1:6

This is love: that we live in obedience to the commandments of GOD. And as you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you live a life of love.

1 Timothy 1:15-17

Here is a trustworthy statement that deserves universal acceptance: CHRIST JESUS entered the world to rescue sinners, of whom I am the worst. Yet for that very reason I received mercy so that CHRIST JESUS could display his great patience, with even the worst of sinners, as an example for those who would believe on him for eternal life. Now to the ETERNAL KING, the IMMORTAL, INVISIBLE, and ONLY GOD, be all honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not worry over anything. Instead, with earnest and thankful prayer, make your requests known to GOD. Then the peace of GOD, which is beyond human comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in CHRIST JESUS.

Matthew 5:14-16

You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, they put it on a stand so it can illuminate everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light be seen by everyone. Let them see the good things you do and praise your FATHER in Heaven.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that nothing has the power to separate us from the love of GOD in JESUS CHRIST, our LORD! Not death, and not life. No angels, no rulers, and no powers. Neither what happens today, nor what may happen tomorrow. Nothing from on high; nothing from below. Nothing in all creation!

Matthew 11:28-30

JESUS said, "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest. Put on my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light."

1 John 5:3-4

Loving GOD means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. Everyone born of GOD overcomes the world, and we achieve this overcoming-the-world victory through our faith.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

Aspire to live quietly, minding your own affairs, working with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders, and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Matthew 10:34-38

Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword, dividing a man from his father, a daughter from her mother, and a daughter-in-law from her mother-in-law. You will have enemies right in your own household! For anyone loving father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me. Anyone loving son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.

John 13:34-35

JESUS said, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. Having such love for one another will show the world that you are my disciples."

Psalm 91:1-2

Those who live in the shelter of the MOST HIGH will find rest in the shadow of the ALMIGHTY. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my GOD, and I trust him.

Mark 8:34-37

Then JESUS gathered the crowd, along with his disciples, and said to them, "Anyone wanting to follow in my footsteps must first deny himself, then take up his cross to follow me. If you would rather save your life, you will lose it. If you are willing to give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel - you will save it. For what good is it for a man to gain the whole world, but forfeit his own soul? What can a man give in exchange for his soul?"

2 Peter 1:2-3

May grace and peace be yours in abundance through your knowledge of GOD and of JESUS, our LORD. By his divine power, he has given us everything we need for life and godliness. We have received this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by his glory and goodness.

1 Peter 1:3-7

Praise be to the GOD and FATHER of our LORD, JESUS CHRIST! By His great mercy we have been born again into a living hope through the resurrection of JESUS CHRIST from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - an inheritance reserved in heaven for you.

Romans 12:1-2

In view of the mercy of GOD, I plead with you, my brothers, as an act of intelligent worship, to give him your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to him. Do not let the world squeeze you into it's mold, but let GOD change the way you think. Then you'll be able to know the will of GOD - his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Psalm 65:5-8

You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds of righteousness, O GOD of our salvation.
You are the hope and confidence of all, to the end of earth and sea.
You formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with mighty strength.
You quieted roaring oceans and their pounding waves, and silenced the turmoil of nations.
Inhabitants from far, far away are in awe of your wonder.
From the dawn of morning to where the evening fades, you inspire songs of joy.

Hebrews 6:10-12

GOD is not unjust. He will forget neither how hard you have worked for Him, nor your labor of love for other believers. Our great desire is that you will keep on showing this same diligence to the very end, in order to make certain your hope. Do not become lazy, but follow the example of those who through faith and patient endurance are going to inherit what has been promised.

Matthew 7:21-25

Not everyone who calls me, 'LORD,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who is doing the will of my FATHER. Many will say to me on that day, 'LORD, did we not prophesy in your name, and did we not drive out demons in your name, and did we not do other great things in your name?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' Therefore, everyone who actually puts my words into practice is like a wise man who built his house on rock. There came a heavy rain, floodwaters rose, and the storm winds battered the house; yet it did not fall, because it had a solid foundation.

Psalm 119:33-37

Show me, O LORD, the way of your statutes and I will keep them to the end.
Cause me to understand and I will keep your laws, obeying with my whole heart.
Direct me on the path of your commandments, for I delight in them.
Turn my heart toward your laws and away from selfish gain.
Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things.
Give me life through your Word.

Luke 7:11-17

The next day JESUS went to a town called Nain. Many of his disciples and a large group of people were traveling with him. When he came near to the gate of the city, he saw a funeral procession. A mother, who was a widow, had lost her only son. Many from the town were with her. When the LORD saw her, he had compassion for her, and said to her, "Do not cry." He came near, touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. Then JESUS said, "Young man, arise!" The dead man sat up, and began to speak. JESUS gave him back to his mother. All of the people were in awe, and they glorified GOD, saying, "A great prophet has risen among us," and, "GOD has visited his people." News of JESUS spread throughout Judea and in all the surrounding areas.

Psalm 16:1-11

Preserve me, O GOD: I take refuge in you. O my soul, you have said to the LORD, "You are my MASTER. Apart from you I have no goodness." As for the saints who are on the earth, they are honorable and my delight is in them. Sorrows will be multiplied for those who worship another god. I will not offer up their blood offerings; nor will I speak their names. The LORD is my inheritance, my cup. You made my lot secure. Boundaries have fallen for me in pleasant places; truly, my inheritance is beautiful. I will bless the LORD, who has counseled me. My conscience instructs me during the night. I have set the LORD before me continually, and since he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. My heart is glad, therefore, as all of me rejoices, and my body will rest in safety. Neither will you leave my soul in hell, nor will you allow your HOLY ONE to experience corruption. You will show me the way of life; abundant joy is in your presence. At your right hand there are pleasures forever.

Romans 6:1-7

What shall we say then? Should we remain in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we, who died to sin, live in it any longer? Do you not know that we who were baptized into CHRIST JESUS were baptized into his death? Through baptism we were buried with him into death. CHRIST was raised from death through the glory of the Father, and in the same way - we live a new life. For if we have been united with him by sharing a death like his, so shall we also share a resurrection like his. We know, therefore, that our old sinful selves were nailed to the cross with CHRIST, so that the body of sin would become powerless, and so that we would no longer be held captive to sin. For a person who has died, has been set free from sin.

1 Corinthians 4:20

The kingdom of GOD is not just talk, but power.

Colossians 4:1-6

Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, remembering that you too have a MASTER in heaven. Continue in prayer; be alert; be thankful. And pray for us also: that GOD will open a door for us to share the Word, that we may talk about the mystery of CHRIST (the very reason I am in chains), and that I may make it clear, as I should. Live in wisdom before outsiders. Make the most of every opportunity. Let your message be full of grace, and seasoned with salt. Learn how to answer each person.

Matthew 14:22-33; Mark 6:45-51; John 6:16-21

As evening approached, JESUS made his disciples go down to the Sea of Galilee to get into the boat, while he sent the people away. They were going ahead of him to the other side, first to Bethsaida, and later on to Capernaum. After JESUS had sent the multitude away, he went up onto a mountain to be alone and pray. When evening had come, he was there alone, and the boat was in the middle of the sea. When it became dark, JESUS had not yet come to them, and the boat was being tossed around; the waves were beating against the boat as a great wind blew. About three o'clock in the morning, JESUS came to them, walking on the sea. He saw the difficulty they were having rowing, for the wind was against them, and he was about to pass them by when they saw him drawing near the boat, walking on the water. They were alarmed, and cried out in fear, "It's a ghost!" But immediately he spoke to them and said, "Take heart; it is me; do not be afraid." Peter answered him and said, "LORD, if it is really you, command me to come to you on the water." And JESUS said, "Come!" Peter got down out of the boat, and walked on the water toward JESUS. But Peter saw how the wind was blowing, and was afraid. As he began to sink, he cried out to the LORD, "Save me!" Immediately JESUS stretched forth his hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" Those in the boat were glad to receive them, and as soon as they had climbed into the boat, the wind stopped, and they were astonished. They worshipped him, and said, "Truly, you really are the SON of GOD!" And immediately the boat came to the shore where they were heading.

Psalm 13:1-6

How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day? How long shall my enemy triumph over me? Consider, and answer me, O LORD, my GOD. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; lest my enemy announce, "I have prevailed against him;" lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your forever loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, because he has been very good to me.

Matthew 14:15-21; Mark 6:35-44; Luke 9:12-17; John 6:5-14

JESUS looked up and saw that a large crowd was coming toward him. The twelve came to him saying, "The day is wearing away, and we are in a remote location. Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms to get food and lodging for themselves." JESUS answered them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." Then he asked Philip, "Where can we buy enough food to feed so many people?" He said this to test him, for he already knew what he was going to do. Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii worth of food would not be enough, even if each person ate only a small amount." And JESUS asked them, "How much food do you have? Go see." One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, "There is a boy here who has five small barley loaves and two small fish, but that is not nearly enough for all these people." And JESUS said, "Bring them here to me." He commanded all the people to sit down in groups of 50 or 100 on the green grass, which was plentiful in that area. In all, there were about five thousand men, plus women and children. He took the five loaves and two fish, and looking up into heaven, he gave thanks and blessed the food. Then he distributed the food to the disciples, and they in turn served all the people, as much as they desired. They all ate and were filled. Then he said to the disciples, "Gather up all the leftovers. Let nothing go to waste." So they collected the food that was left over, and it filled twelve large baskets! When the people had seen this miracle that JESUS had performed, they said, "Truly this is the Prophet we were expecting to come into the world."

Matthew 12:46-50; Mark 3:31-35; Luke 8:19-21

While JESUS was speaking to the crowd, behold, his family arrived, desiring to speak with him. They could not reach him because there were so many people, so they waited outside while someone told him that his family was there looking for him. But he asked the one who spoke to him, "Who is my family?" Then he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, "Behold, here is my family. My family is whoever hears the Word of GOD and obeys, doing the will of my FATHER who is in heaven."

Matthew 5:31-32

JESUS said, "It has been said that when a man divorces his wife, he must give her a certificate of divorce. But I, I am telling you, that unless the reason is for the cause of sexual immorality, any man who divorces his wife causes her to commit adultery (when she remarries), and whoever marries a woman who was divorced for reasons other than sexual immorality also commits adultery."

James 5:10-11

For an example of suffering and patience, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the LORD. As you know, we admire those who endure. And you have heard of the patience of Job, and you know the result that the LORD brought about, and how the LORD was tender and merciful to him.

Ephesians 4:1-6

Therefore, as a prisoner in the LORD, I call on you to live as though you are worthy of your calling of GOD. Be humble, gentle, and patient; bearing with one another with unconditional love; being eager to remain united in the SPIRIT, in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one SPIRIT, just as you were called to one hope in your calling; one LORD, one faith, one baptism. There is one GOD and FATHER of everyone, who is above all, and through all, and in us all.

Hebrews 13:7-8

Remember your leaders, who spoke the Word of GOD to you. Carefully observe the results of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
JESUS CHRIST is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Exodus 20:1-17; Deuteronomy 5:6-21

And GOD spoke these words, saying:
• I am the LORD your GOD. Do not have any other gods before me.
• Do not worship any idol or image; for I, the LORD your GOD, am a jealous GOD.
• Do not use the name of the LORD your GOD in vain.
• The LORD blessed the Sabbath and made it holy. Therefore, observe the seventh day as a Sabbath to the LORD your GOD, to keep it holy.
• Honor your father and your mother.
• Do not commit murder.
• Do not commit adultery.
• Do not steal.
• Do not give false testimony.
• Do not covet.

Psalm 12:1-8

Help, O LORD; for the godly man ceases. For the faithful fail from among the children of men. Everyone lies to his neighbor. They speak with flattering lips, and with a double heart. May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts, who have said, "With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?" "Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD; "I will set him in safety from those who malign him." The words of the LORD are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times. You will keep them, LORD. You will preserve them from this generation forever. The wicked walk on every side, when what is vile is exalted among the children of men.

Romans 13:8-10

Owe no one anything, except to love one another unconditionally; for the person who loves others unconditionally, has fulfilled the law. All of the commandments, including "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not give false testimony," "You shall not covet," are summed up in this one sentence: "You shall unconditionally love your neighbor as yourself." Loving others unconditionally does no harm to anyone; therefore, unconditional love is the fulfillment of the law.

Luke 7:1-10; Matthew 8:5-10,13

Upon entering into Capernaum, a centurion sent elders of the Jews to ask JESUS to save the life of his servant, who was dear to him and very sick: bed-ridden, paralyzed, suffering, and near death. When the men came to JESUS, they begged him, saying, "This man is worthy for you to do this for him, for he loves our nation, and even built a house of worship for us." JESUS agreed to heal him and went with the men. When they were not too far from the house, the centurion sent word to JESUS, saying, "LORD, do not trouble yourself any further, for I did not consider myself worthy to come to you myself, and I am not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I understand authority: I give commands, and they are obeyed." When JESUS heard this, he was amazed, and said to the multitude who followed him, "Truly I say to you that I have not found this much faith anywhere — not even in Israel!" Then JESUS said to the centurion, "Go your way. It will be done for you as you have believed." His servant was healed at that time. Those who had been sent to JESUS returned to the house and found that the servant who had been sick was well.

1 Corinthians 4:1-5

Live such that people think of us as servants of CHRIST, and stewards of the mysteries of GOD. One thing is expected of a steward, and that is that he be found trustworthy. It does not matter to me if you judge me by human standards; I don't even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me right with GOD. The LORD is the one who judges me. Therefore, do not prejudge anything before the LORD comes, for he will bring to light the things which are hidden in darkness, and he will reveal the motives of the hearts of people. Then GOD will reward us.

Colossians 3:5-8

Therefore, put to death what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things, the wrath of GOD will come to those who will not obey. In the past you lived that way, but now you must put off all such things, and also anger, grudges, feelings of hate, cursing, and filthy words.

1 Thessalonians 3:1-13

We decided to stay behind in Athens alone, but when we could stand it no longer, we sent Timothy, our brother and servant of GOD for the gospel of CHRIST. We wanted him to make you strong, and to help your faith. We want no one to be disturbed by our afflictions, for you yourselves know that we are about our appointed task. When we were with you we foretold you that we would be persecuted. And now, as you know, it has happened. That is why I could wait no more and sent Timothy in order to know your faith, for fear that the tempter had tempted you and made our labor in vain. But now Timothy has returned to us and reported good news of your faith and love, and that you have good memories of us, and that you are longing to see us just as we long to see you. Brothers and sisters, we are encouraged in the midst of our affliction and distress, and comforted because of your faith. For now we live, if you stand firm in the LORD. We can neither thank GOD enough, nor ever repay him for all the joy we have before our GOD because of you. Night and day we earnestly pray that we may see your faces and supply anything missing in your faith. Now may our GOD and FATHER himself, and our LORD, JESUS CHRIST, prepare a way for us to come to you. And may the LORD make your love grow and overflow toward one another, and toward everyone, just as ours does toward you, so that he can make your hearts strong and blameless in holiness before our GOD and FATHER, when our LORD, JESUS, returns with all his saints.

Psalm 11:1-7

In the LORD I put my trust. How can anyone say to my soul, "Flee like a bird to your mountain?" Behold, the wicked prepare for battle; they make ready their bow and arrows that they may shoot in secret at the upright in heart.
If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The LORD is in his holy temple; the throne of the LORD is in heaven. Behold, his eyes observe, and his eyes examine the children of men. The LORD examines the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and those who love violence. Upon the wicked he will rain blazing coals. Fire, brimstone, and burning wind shall be their cup of portion. The LORD is righteous, and he loves righteousness. The upright will see his face.

John 4:3-26

When JESUS left Judea, going to Galilee, it was necessary for him to pass through Samaria. He came to Sychar, a city of Samaria near the property which Jacob had given to his son, Joseph. Jacob's well was there. JESUS was weary from the journey, so he sat down near the well, about noon. A Samaritan woman came to draw some water, and JESUS asked her for a drink. (His disciples had gone into the city to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jewish man, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink of water?" (For Jews did not associate with Samaritans.) JESUS answered her and said, "If you knew about the gift of GOD, and who I am, you would be asking of me, and I would be giving you living water." The woman said to him, "Sir, you have nothing with which to draw water, and the well is deep, so where are you going to get this living water? Are you greater than our ancestor, Jacob, the one who gave us this well? He, his sons, and even his livestock all drank from this well." Then JESUS answered her, saying, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water that I will give them, will never be thirsty again. The water I give becomes a spring inside, welling up to eternal life." The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water that I may not thirst again, nor have to come back here again and again." JESUS said to her, "Go get your husband, and bring him back here." The woman answered, "But I have no husband." And JESUS said to her, "You have spoken correctly. You have no husband. You have had five husbands, but the one you now have is not your husband. So, yes, you spoke the truth." The woman then said to him, "Sir, you must be a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that Jerusalem is the correct place to worship." JESUS said to her, "Woman, believe me. The time is coming when neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the FATHER. You Samaritans worship what you do not know, while we Jews worship what we do know. Salvation is from the Jews. But the time is coming, and now is, when true worshipers will worship the FATHER in spirit and in truth, for that is the kind of people that the FATHER is searching for to worship him. GOD is SPIRIT, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." The woman said to him, "I know that the MESSIAH, the ANOINTED ONE, is coming. When he comes, he will tell us all." Then JESUS said to her, "I am the ONE."

1 John 4:9-12

This is how the love of GOD was revealed in us: that GOD sent his one and only SON into the world that we might live through him. This is unconditional love, not that we loved GOD, but that he loved us, and sent his SON to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since GOD loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another in a giving-of-ourselves way. No one has ever seen GOD, but if we love one another in this way, GOD lives in us, and his unconditional love is fully perfected.

Mark 2:18-22

The disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fasted. Some of them came to JESUS and asked, "Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not?" And JESUS said to them, "Can the groomsmen fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. But the day will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast.
No one uses a piece of new cloth to patch up an old garment, because if they do, it will shrink when washed and tear away from the old, making the hole worse than before.
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins, because if they do, the new wine will cause the skins to burst. The wine will pour out, and the wineskins will be ruined. New wine must be put into fresh wineskins."

Matthew 5:25-26

If someone is trying to sue you, come to terms before you go to court, for the prosecutor might deliver you to the judge, and then the judge might deliver you to the officer, and then you might be thrown into prison. I am telling you the truth: you might not get out of there until you have paid the last penny.

James 5:9

Do not complain about one another, brothers and sisters, lest you be judged. For behold, the JUDGE is standing just outside the door.

2 Corinthians 6:3-10

We are careful to not do anything which might cause someone to stumble, so that our service may not be blamed. But rather, in everything, we conduct ourselves as persevering servants of GOD: when we are suffering, during hard times, when having problems, when beaten, while in prison, during insurrections, while doing labor, during sleepless nights, and while fasting. We do this in purity, with understanding, with longsuffering patience, with kindness, by the HOLY SPIRIT, with sincere love, with a message of truth, and by the power of GOD. We have used these weapons of righteousness both on the right hand, and on the left; through honor, and through dishonor; when slandered, and when commended. We are treated as deceivers, yet we tell the truth; as if unknown, yet we are well known; and as if dying, yet, look, we are alive! Punished, but not put to death. We are treated as if we should be sad, but we are always rejoicing; as poor, while we make many rich; as though we have nothing, when in fact we have everything!

Hebrews 12:28-29

Therefore, we should be grateful that we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, and through which we may serve GOD in a way that will please him: with reverence and godly fear. For our GOD is like a consuming fire.

2 Thessalonians 3:13-15

Never grow weary, dear brothers and sisters, of doing good. If anyone does not obey our instructions in this letter, take note of that person, and do not associate with them, so that they will feel ashamed. But do not think of them as an enemy, but rather admonish them as a brother or sister.

Acts 4:36-5:11

One of the believers, Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, who the apostles gave the surname Barnabas, which means the Son of Encouragement, sold land he owned and gave the money to the apostles. But a certain man named Ananias, whose wife was Sapphira, sold a piece of property, and, with his wife's knowledge, kept some of the money and gave the rest to the apostles. Peter asked him, "Ananias, why did you let satan fill your heart? You lied to the HOLY SPIRIT and misused the money you received from the sale of the land. Before you sold the field, it belonged to you, and when you sold it the money was yours to use any way you wanted. So why conceive of such a thing in your heart? You have not lied to man, but to GOD!" On hearing these words, Ananias fell down and died. Great fear came on all who witnessed this. Young men rose, wrapped his body, carried him out, and buried him. About three hours later, the wife of Ananias came in, unaware of what had happened. Peter asked her, "Tell me, Sapphira, the money that you and your husband gave - is that what you got for the land?" "Yes," she answered, "That is the amount." Then Peter asked her, "Why did you and your husband agree to challenge the SPIRIT of the LORD? Listen! The footsteps you hear are of those who have buried your husband, and they are at the door, ready to carry you out as well." Immediately Sapphira fell down at Peter's feet and died. The young men came in, found her dead, carried her out, and buried her next to her husband. Great fear came upon the whole church, and upon all who heard about these things.

1 John 5:6-9

JESUS CHRIST is the one who came by water and blood; not by water only, but by water and blood. The HOLY SPIRIT is our witness, and the SPIRIT is TRUTH. For there are three that testify: the SPIRIT, the water, and the blood. All three witnesses agree as one. We accept the testimony of men, but the witness of GOD is greater, for it is the testimony of GOD, which he has given regarding his SON.

Luke 8:16-18; Mark 4:21-25

No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a basket, or hides it under a bed; but rather puts it on a table so that those who enter may see by the light. For everything that is hidden will be revealed; and every thing secret will be made known and come to light. So be careful to hear this: the measure you use to give is the measure GOD will use to give to you. Whoever has, will be given more; whoever has not, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him.

Romans 5:9-10

Having been made right with GOD by the blood of CHRIST, even more now will we be saved from the wrath of GOD through him. While we were enemies of GOD we were reconciled to him through the death of his SON. Now that we have been reconciled, we will be saved through his life.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Flee from sexual immorality! Every other sin that we do is outside the body, but sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the HOLY SPIRIT, which is in you, whom you received from GOD? You are not your own, for you have been bought with a price. Therefore, glorify GOD in your body and in your spirit, which belong to GOD.

Titus 1:15-16

All things are pure to those who are pure; but nothing is pure to those who are defiled and unbelieving, because both their mind and their conscience is polluted. They claim to know GOD, but they deny him by their actions. They are rotten, disobedient, and unfit for doing anything good.

Matthew 5:29-30

If your right eye is causing you to sin, take it out and throw it away. You would be better off if one part of your body perished, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell! And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. You would be better off to destroy one part of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell!

Psalm 10:13-18

Why does the wicked person renounce GOD? He says in his heart, "GOD will not call me into account." But you do see trouble and grief, and taking it into your hand, you help the victim and the fatherless. Break the strength of the wicked and evil; seek out wickedness until there is no more. The LORD is KING forever and ever. The heathen will perish out of his land. The desire of the humble you have heard, O LORD, and you will strengthen their hearts. You turn your ear to hear, to do justice to the fatherless and oppressed, so that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.

1 John 4:4-6

We belong to GOD, my children, and we have overcome the false prophets, because the ONE who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are of the world, and what they have to say is of the world, so the world hears them. But we belong to GOD, and people who know GOD listen to us, while people who do not belong to GOD do not listen to us. This is how you can tell the difference between the spirit of truth and a false spirit.

Mark 3:28-29

And JESUS said, "With certainty I tell you that all sins, including blasphemy, can be forgiven. But whoever blasphemes against the HOLY SPIRIT shall never have forgiveness, for he has committed an eternal sin."

Proverbs 3:7-12

Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones. Honor the LORD with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase, so your barns will be filled to plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. My child, do not despise being disciplined by the LORD; neither be weary of his correction. For the LORD loves whom he corrects, just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights.

Ephesians 3:13-19

So I am asking that you do not give up, for I am suffering for you to your glory. For this reason, I bow down to the FATHER of our LORD, JESUS CHRIST, for whom the whole family in heaven and on earth is named, praying that he will grant you to be inwardly strengthened with power through his SPIRIT, according to the wealth of his glory; and that CHRIST will live in your hearts by faith; and that you will be rooted and grounded in love, so you can comprehend and come to know, with all the saints, the breadth and length and height and depth of the love of CHRIST, which transcends all understanding; and that you will be filled with all the fullness of GOD.

James 5:1-8

To all the rich people: weep and howl for the miseries that are coming to you when your valuables have rotted and moths have eaten up your clothes. Your gold and silver will corrode, and the rust on them will be a witness against you; it will eat your flesh as if it were on fire. You have hoarded treasure in these last days. You cheated the laborers who worked for you out of the pay that they deserved, and their pay cries out for justice. The LORD ALMIGHTY hears. You have lived a life of luxury on the earth; you have taken your pleasure; you have fattened your hearts like an animal ready for slaughter. You have condemned and murdered a righteous man, and he did not resist you. Be patient, brothers, until the coming of the LORD - just like the farmer who patiently waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and does not harvest until the early and late rains have come. Be patient like that, and make your hearts strong, for the LORD is coming again soon.

2 Corinthians 3:7-16

The ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, came with such splendor that the children of Israel could not continue looking at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance. And that glory was fading. How much more glorious will be the ministry of the SPIRIT? For if the ministry which brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious will be the ministry which makes a person right with GOD? Yes, the law was glorious, but it pales in comparison to the superior glory. The glory of that which remains is greater than the glory of that which is abolished. Therefore, since we have such hope, we are free to be bold of speech. Not as Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel would not keep looking until the brightness faded. They were closed-minded, for to this day the veil remains at the reading of the Old Testament; and it can only be removed in CHRIST. And to this day, when the law of Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But when one turns to the LORD, the veil is removed!

2 Thessalonians 3:4-12

We have confidence in the LORD concerning you, that you are doing, and will continue to do what we commanded; and that the LORD will guide your hearts into the love of GOD, and into the enduring patience of CHRIST. Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our LORD, JESUS CHRIST, to withdraw from every believer who is idle, walking in rebellion, instead of living the way we taught you to live. You yourselves know how you ought to act - like us! For we were not idle or rebellious among you, and we never ate anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day so as to not be a burden on any of you. Not because we do not have the authority, but to make ourselves an example for you to follow. Remember that while we were with you we gave you this command: "If any one is not willing to work, then do not let them eat." For we hear that some among you are idle, living in rebellion, not working at all; yet still find time to be busybodies. Now to those who are acting this way, we command and exhort you in the name of our LORD, JESUS CHRIST, to get to work! Support yourselves and be quiet about it.

Hebrews 12:22-24a

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living GOD, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. You have come to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to GOD, the JUDGE of all people. You have come to the spirits of righteous people who have been made perfect. And you have come to JESUS, the MEDIATOR of the New Covenant.

Acts 4:32-35

The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and united in spirit. None of them claimed that their possessions were their own, because they shared everything. The apostles used great power in their testimony about the resurrection of our LORD, JESUS. Great grace was on them all. And none of them were in need, for everyone who owned land or houses sold them, gave the money to the apostles, and everyone was given what they needed.

1 John 4:19-21

We love GOD (give ourselves to him), because he first loved us (gave himself to us). If someone claims to love GOD ("I give myself to GOD"), and hates his brother (does not give of himself), then that person is a liar. For he who does not love his brother (giving of himself) whom he has seen, how can he love GOD (giving himself to GOD) whom he has not seen? Remember the commandment he gave us: that he who is loving GOD (giving himself to GOD) must also love his brother (giving of himself).

Romans 5:6-8

While we were still helpless and ungodly, CHRIST died for us at exactly the right time. It is rare for someone to die for a righteous person, though perhaps for a righteous person someone would dare to die, but GOD shows his giving-of-himself love for us, in that, while we were still sinners, CHRIST died for us!

1 Corinthians 3:18-23

Let no one deceive themselves into thinking that they are wise by the standards of the world. Instead they ought to become a "fool" so that they may become truly wise. For the wisdom of the world is foolishness to GOD. Scripture says, "GOD traps the 'wise' in their own craftiness," and "The LORD knows the thoughts of the 'wise' and that they are worthless." Therefore, let no one brag about human wisdom, for everything belongs to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Peter or the world or life or death or the present or the future - all things are yours. And you belong to CHRIST. And CHRIST belongs to GOD.

Colossians 3:1-4

If then you have been raised with CHRIST, seek those things which are above, where CHRIST is, seated at the right hand of GOD. Think about things that are above, not about things that are of the earth. For you have died, and your life has been hidden away with CHRIST in GOD. When CHRIST, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 Thessalonians 2:9-13

Brothers, when we preached to you the good news of GOD, do you remember our hard work, and the hardships? We worked night and day so as to not be a burden on any of you. And you witnessed, along with GOD, how holy, righteously, and blamelessly we behaved ourselves toward you who believe. You also know how we exhorted and comforted and implored every one of you, just as a father does his own children, that you would live in a manner worthy of GOD, who has called you into his kingdom and glory. We continually thank GOD because when you received from us the Word of GOD, you accepted it not as the word of man, but as the Word of GOD, as it is in truth, performing its work in you who believe.

Psalm 9:7-12

The LORD will endure forever. He has prepared his throne for judgment, and he will judge the world in righteousness. He will administer justice to the people in uprightness. The LORD will be a tower of refuge for the oppressed and in times of trouble. Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you. Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion, and declare among the people what he has done. For he who avenges blood remembers them, and he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

Ruth 1:1-19a

And it came to pass in the days when the judges judged, that there was a famine in the land. A certain man from Bethlehem, Judah, went to live in the country of Moab, along with his wife and his two sons. The name of the man was Elimelech; the name of his wife was Naomi; the name of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah, and they went to live in the country of Moab. Elimelech died and was survived by this wife, Naomi, and their two sons. The two sons took wives of the women of Moab: one named Orpah, and the other named Ruth, and they lived there about ten years. Mahlon and Chilion both died, survived by Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth. Naomi and her daughters-in-law rose to leave the country of Moab, for Naomi had heard that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread. They left Moab and began their journey back to Judah. But Naomi said to her daughters-in-law, "Go, return to your mother's house. The LORD will deal kindly with you, just as you have dealt with the dead and with me. May the LORD grant you rest, each of you in the house of her husband." Then she kissed them, and they raised their voices and wept. They told Naomi, "We will return with you to your people." But Naomi said, "Go back, my daughters. Why do you want to go with me? I cannot have more sons for you to marry. Turn back, my daughters, and go your way, for I am too old to have a husband. Even if there was hope for me to have a husband tonight to bear more sons, would you wait for them to be grown, and in the mean time refrain from having husbands? No, my daughters, for it grieves me so, for your sakes, for the hand of the LORD has gone out against me." They raised their voices and wept again. Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her. Naomi said, "Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people, and to her god. Follow her." But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you, for wherever you go, I will go; where you live, I will live; your people shall be my people, and your GOD, my GOD. Where you die, I will die; and there I will be buried. May the LORD do to me and more, if anything but death comes between us." When Naomi saw that Ruth had made up her mind to go with her, she stopped talking. And they resumed their journey to Bethlehem.

2 Peter 3:15-18

You can count the long-suffering patience of our LORD as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul wrote you with the wisdom he was given. Some of the things Paul writes in his letters are hard to understand, but in all his letters he writes the same way about all of these things. There are ignorant and unstable people who distort what he has written, as they also do to other Scriptures, to their own destruction. But you, dearly beloved, since you already know these things, beware, lest you too are carried away by the error of the wicked and you fall from your own firm position. But rather, grow in grace and in the knowledge of our LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST. To him belongs all glory, now, and forever more! Amen!

Mark 2:13-17

When JESUS went out again to the seashore, the multitude followed him, and he taught them. Later, as he was walking along, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting in the tax office. JESUS said to him, "Follow me." Levi rose and followed him. JESUS, his disciples, many tax collectors and sinners, for there were many who were following him, had dinner at Levi's house. When some scribes and Pharisees saw that JESUS was eating with tax collectors and sinners, they asked his disciples, "Why does JESUS eat with tax collectors and sinners?" When JESUS heard this, he said, "Healthy people do not need a physician, but sick people do. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

Matthew 5:21-24

And JESUS said, "You have heard that it was said to people long ago, 'Do not murder;' and 'Whoever commits murder will be punished.' But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without just cause will be condemned. And anyone who calls his brother an 'idiot' will be subject to the Council. And anyone who calls someone a 'fool' will be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come back and offer your gift."

James 4:4-6

Do you not know that friendship with this world is enmity with GOD? Therefore, whoever wants to be a friend of this world, becomes an enemy of GOD. Do you think that Scripture speaks in vain when it says that the spirit he caused to live in us yearns with jealousy? But GOD will help in time of need, and promises to oppose the arrogant, while giving grace to the humble.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust is the LORD with all of your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in everything you do, and he will direct your path.

Hebrews 13:1-4

Continue loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing, some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those who are in prison, as if you were with them; and remember those who are being mistreated, since you are in the same body. Let marriage be treated with respect by everyone, and let the marriage bed be kept pure, for GOD will judge the sexually immoral and those who commit adultery.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-17

We are indebted to always give thanks to GOD for you, brothers, loved by the LORD, because GOD chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the SPIRIT and belief in the truth. He called you through our gospel, to obtain the glory of our LORD, JESUS CHRIST. Therefore, brothers, stand firm, and hold onto the traditions we taught you both by word and by letter. Now may our LORD, JESUS CHRIST himself, and GOD, our FATHER, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.

Acts 4:23-31

After being released, Peter and John went to their own people, and reported everything the chief priests and elders had said to them. Having heard the report, they all prayed with one purpose, "MASTER, you are GOD. You made heaven and earth and everything that is in them. Through the mouth of your servant, David, you said, 'Why do the nations rage and plot vain things? The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers unite against the LORD and against his CHRIST.' These words were fulfilled when Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the nations and the people of Israel, united to do what your power and your will had determined would happen. And now, LORD, consider their threats, and grant boldness to your servants when we speak your Word. Show your power through healing and signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant JESUS." And when they had prayed, the place where they had assembled was shaken. They were filled with the HOLY SPIRIT, and spoke the Word of GOD with boldness.

Romans 5:1-5

Since we have been made right with GOD on the principle of faith, we have peace with GOD through our LORD, JESUS CHRIST. And through him we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of GOD. Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering develops perseverance, and perseverance develops character, and proven character develops hope. And hope never disappoints us because the love of GOD has been poured into our hearts by the HOLY SPIRIT, who was given to us.

Luke 2:1-20

Now it happened in those days, that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census should be taken of everyone in the empire. This first enrollment took place while Cyrenius was governor of Syria, and everyone was to be registered in the town where they were born. So Joseph went up from Nazareth of Galilee, to the city of David, which is Bethlehem of Judea, because he was from the family of David - a direct descendant. He registered with Mary because they were engaged to be married. Mary was pregnant, and while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to give birth. She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were some shepherds in the area, living in fields to watch over their sheep that night. And behold, an angel of the LORD stood over them, and the glory of the LORD shined all around them. And they were frightened. The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news which will bring great joy to all the people. For today your SAVIOR, CHRIST the LORD, was born in Bethlehem. And this is how you will know him: you will find a baby wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger." Suddenly, a multitude of heavenly angels joined the first angel, praising GOD, saying, "Give glory to GOD in heaven and on earth. Let there be peace and goodwill among men." When the angels had gone away, the shepherds agreed to go to Bethlehem "to see what has happened, which the LORD has made known to us." So the shepherds quickly went and found Mary and Joseph and the baby, which was lying in a manger. When the shepherds saw the baby, they revealed what the angels had told them about this child. Everyone was amazed when they heard what the shepherds had to say. Mary preserved these memories in her heart as she continued to think about them. And the shepherds returned to the fields, glorifying and praising GOD. For all they had seen and heard was just as the angel had told them.

John 3:1-15

Now there was a man named Nicodemus, a Pharisee and a Jewish leader, who came to JESUS at night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from GOD. No one could perform these miracles if GOD were not with him." JESUS said to him, "Here is another truth for you to consider: if a person is not born again, he cannot see the kingdom of GOD." Nicodemus asked him, "How can a man be reborn, when he is already old? Is it possible for him to enter his mother's womb a second time to be born again?" JESUS answered, "I am telling you an absolute truth: if a person is not born of water and the SPIRIT, he cannot enter the kingdom of GOD. That which has been born of man is human. That which is born of the SPIRIT is spirit. Do not be surprised when I tell you, 'you must be born again.' The wind blows wherever it wishes. You hear the sound of it without knowing where it came from or where it is going. So it is with everyone who has been born of the SPIRIT." "How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. JESUS answered and said, "You are a teacher of Israel, and you do not know these things? I am absolutely speaking the truth when I tell you that we are talking about what we know. We are telling the truth about what we have seen. But you do not accept our testimony. If you do not believe me when I tell you about things on earth, how could you ever believe me if I told you about heavenly things? I am the only one who has ever ascended to heaven. I CAME from heaven. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, I too, much in the same way, must be lifted up so that everyone who really believes in me will have eternal life."

Genesis 22:1-12

And it came to pass that GOD called Abraham, to test him, and Abraham said, "Here I am." And GOD said, "Take your son now, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, of which I will tell you." So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, took two of his young men with him, along with Isaac, his son, and the wood he had split for the burnt offering, and went to the place which GOD had told him. On the third day of the journey, Abraham looked up and saw the place from afar. To his young men, Abraham said, "Stay here with the donkey while my boy and I go on. We will worship and return to you." Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and gave it to Isaac to carry. Then taking in his own hands the fire and the knife, they went on together. Isaac spoke to his father, Abraham, and said, "Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" And Abraham said, "My son, GOD will provide for himself a lamb for the burnt offering." And they continued on together. When they came to the place GOD had told Abraham about, Abraham built an altar. He arranged the wood on the altar, bound up Isaac, his son, and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. Just then, the ANGEL of the LORD called to him from heaven, and said, "Abraham! Abraham! Do not lay a hand on the boy. Do not do anything to him, for now I know that you fear GOD, and have not withheld anything from me - not even your son, your only son."

Titus 1:10-11

There are many who are insubordinate, who talk without having anything to say, and who deceive: especially Jewish believers who insist that Gentile believers must be circumcised. Their mouths must be stopped. They subvert entire families, teaching things they must not teach. And why? For dishonest money! One of their own, a teacher, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, and idle gluttons." Since this is true, rebuke them sharply so that they may be sound in the faith. They must not hold onto Jewish legends or the commandments of men who turn away from the truth.

Psalm 7:17; 9:1-2

I will give thanks to the LORD according to his righteousness; I will sing praise to the name of the LORD MOST HIGH. I will give thanks to the LORD with all of my heart; I will tell of all your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O MOST HIGH.

2 Timothy 4:5-8

Use self-control in all things. Endure hardships. Do the work of one proclaiming the gospel, and complete your ministry. For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for me to die is near. I have fought a good fight; I have finished the course; I have kept the faith. And now there is a crown of righteousness waiting for me, which the LORD, the RIGHTEOUS JUDGE, will give me on that day. And not to me only, but also to those who have longed for his appearing.

1 John 4:1-3

You to whom I give myself, many false prophets are now in the world, so do not believe every spirit. Examine the spirits to see whether they are from GOD. This is how you can recognize the SPIRIT of GOD: every spirit that says that JESUS is the CHRIST, and that he came to earth and became a human being, is from GOD. But every spirit that refuses to say that JESUS is the CHRIST, and that he came to earth and became a human being, is not from GOD. In fact, this is the spirit of the enemy of CHRIST, which you have heard is coming, and now is already in the world.

Mark 3:13-19

JESUS went up onto a mountain, calling to himself those whom he wanted, and they went to him. He appointed twelve, to be with him, to send out to preach, and to have authority to heal diseases and cast out demons. He appointed Simon, to whom he gave the surname Peter; the sons of Zebedee, James and John, to whom he gave the name Boanerges, which means Sons of Thunder; Andrew; Philip; Bartholomew; Matthew; Thomas; James, the son of Alphaeus; Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite; and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Proverbs 1:7-9

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and discipline. My son, listen to your father's instruction, and do not forsake your mother's teaching, for they will be a garland to grace your head, and a chain to adorn your neck.

Ephesians 3:7-12

It was by a gift of the grace of GOD, which was given to me through the working of his power, that I became a servant of the gospel. And this grace was given to me, the least of all of the saints, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of the MESSIAH, and to help everyone see the administration of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world had been hidden in GOD, who created all things through CHRIST JESUS. It was his intent that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of GOD can be made known to the rulers and authorities in heavenly places - all according to the eternal purpose which he accomplished in CHRIST JESUS our LORD, in whom we have freedom and confident access through our faith in him.

James 4:1-3

Where do the wars and fights among you come from? Don't they come from the passions that war within you? You want something, but you do not get it. You kill for it, you covet it, but are unable to obtain it. So you fight and make war. You do not have - because you do not ask. You ask, but you do not receive because your motives are all wrong since you ask for your own pleasures.

2 Corinthians 3:1-6

Are we beginning again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some do, letters of commendation to you or from you? You are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone, revealing that you are a letter from CHRIST, ministered by us, and written, not with ink, but with the SPIRIT of the living GOD; not on tablets of stone, but on the tablets of your hearts. We have such confidence through CHRIST before GOD. Not that we are sufficient to claim anything from ourselves, but our sufficiency comes from GOD, who also made us sufficient as servants of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the SPIRIT. For the letter kills, but the SPIRIT gives life.

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3

Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the Word of the LORD may be spread rapidly and be glorified, even as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men, for not all have faith. But the LORD is faithful, and he will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Hebrews 5:11-14; 6:1-3

We have much more to say about the priesthood of CHRIST, but it is hard to explain since you are dull of hearing. You need someone to teach you the basic truths of the Word of GOD, though by this time you ought to be teachers. You have need of milk, not solid food, for anyone who lives on milk is still a baby and not experienced in the Word of righteousness. Solid food is for those who are mature, who by continual use are able to discern good and evil. Therefore, leaving the first principles of CHIRST, let us press on to maturity instead of laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, of faith in GOD, of the doctrine of baptism, of laying on of hands, of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do, if GOD permits.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

You are the temple of GOD, and the SPIRIT of GOD lives in you. If anyone destroys the temple of GOD, GOD will destroy him; for the temple of GOD is holy, and you are that temple.

1 Peter 5:8-11

Stay sober and be ever watchful, because your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. But you must resist him and be unwavering in your faith, knowing that all Christians everywhere are undergoing the same sufferings. And the GOD of grace who called you to his eternal glory in CHRIST JESUS, will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you after you have suffered a little while. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen!

1 Timothy 5:24-25

The sins of some people are obvious, preceding them to judgment; the sins of others follow behind. In the same way, the good deeds of some are obvious, but even those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.

Acts 4:13-22

The rulers, elders, and teachers of the law were astonished when they saw the courage of Peter and John, because they considered them to be unlearned, ordinary men. They also remembered that they had been with JESUS. But they were speechless since they could see the man that had been healed standing there with them. So they commanded them to withdraw from the council while they conferred among themselves, saying, "What should we do with these men? Everyone in Jerusalem can plainly see that a notable miracle has been done through them, and we cannot deny it. But so that this spreads no further among the people, let's threaten them that from now on they are not to speak to anyone in this name." They called them in again and charged them not to teach or even to speak in the name of JESUS. But Peter and John answered them, saying, "You will have to judge for yourselves whether it is right in the sight of GOD to obey you rather than GOD. For we cannot refrain from talking about the things we have seen and heard." After more threats they let them go, finding no way to punish them, on account of all the people who were praising GOD for what had happened. For the man on whom this miracle of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

John 2:12-25

After turning water to wine at the wedding, JESUS went down to Capernaum with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days. When the Jewish Passover was at hand, JESUS went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, and the money changers. So he made a whip of cords and drove them all out of the temple, including the sheep and the oxen. He poured out the changer's money and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, "Take these things out of here! Don't make my FATHER's house a house of merchandise!" His disciples remembered the Scripture, "Zeal for your house will consume me." Confronting him, the Jews asked, "What sign can you show us proving your authority to do these things?" JESUS answered, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." Then the Jews, not knowing that the temple he spoke of was his body, asked, "Forty-six years it took to build this temple; and in three days you will raise it?" His disciples remembered what he had said after he was raised from the dead, and they believed the Scripture and the words which JESUS had spoken. While he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many saw the miracles he performed and believed in him. But JESUS did not trust himself to them, because he knew all men. He did not need for anyone to testify about man, because he knew what was in a man.

Luke 5:1-11

One day, with the multitude crowding around him by the Sea of Galilee to hear the Word of GOD, JESUS saw two boats at the edge of the water, from which the fishermen had gotten out to wash their nets. He got into one of the boats and asked the owner, Simon, to put out a little from shore, and from the boat he sat and taught the multitude. When he had finished speaking, he told Simon to put out to deep water to do some fishing with their nets. Simon answered, "Master, we labored all night without catching anything, but at your word we will do as you say." And having done so they caught a great number of fish, so much that their nets were breaking, so they signaled for their partners in the other boat to come help them. They came and both boats took on so many fish that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw what was happening, he fell at the knees of JESUS and said, "Depart from me, LORD, for I am a sinful man." They were all astonished at the number of fish they had caught, including James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then JESUS said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will be fishers of men." When they reached the shore, they left everything and followed JESUS.

Psalm 5

Give ear to my words, O LORD, and consider my meditation. Listen to the voice of my cry, my KING and my GOD, for it is to you that I pray. In the morning, O LORD, you will hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will wait expectantly. You are not a GOD who takes pleasure in wickedness; evil cannot live with you. Arrogant people cannot stand in your presence; you hate the working of iniquity. You will destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors blood-thirsty and deceitful men. But as for me, I will come to your house in the abundance of your lovingkindness, and I will bow toward your holy temple in reverence of you. Because of my enemies, O LORD, lead me in your righteousness, and make your way straight before me. Nothing from their mouth can be trusted, for their heart is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave, even while flattery is on their tongue. Hold them guilty, O GOD, and let their own counsel be their downfall. Banish them for their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against you. But let everyone rejoice who takes refuge in you; and let them forever shout for joy, for you protect them. And let all who love your name also be joyful in you, for you will bless the righteous, O LORD, and you will surround them with a shield of favor.

2 Peter 3:14

Therefore, dearly beloved, since you are looking forward to these things (a new heaven and a new earth), be diligent to be found by him at peace, without spot, and without blame.

1 John 2:28-29

And now, dear children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, then you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of him.

Mark 2:1-12

JESUS went to Capernaum and word got around that he was there. At once many began to assemble, so much so that there was no more room, not even at the door. He was preaching the Word to them when four people arrived carrying a paralytic. The house was too crowded to come near to him, so they uncovered the roof above where he was and broke through. Then they lowered the mat that the paralytic was lying on. When JESUS saw their faith, he told the paralytic that his sins were forgiven. Some of the scribes were there who reasoned that JESUS had spoken blasphemy since only GOD can forgive sins. Immediately, JESUS, knowing in his spirit what the scribes were thinking, asked them, "Why do you reason these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or 'Arise, take up your mat, and walk?' I will prove that the SON of MAN has authority on earth to forgive sins." He turned to the paralytic and said, "Arise, take up your mat, and go home." Immediately the man arose, took up his mat, and walked out the door to everyone's amazement. They praised GOD, saying, "We have never seen anything like this!"

Matthew 5:17-20

Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. I tell you most assuredly that until heaven and earth pass away, not even the smallest letter or a tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the Law until all things are accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever obeys and teaches them - shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

James 3:13-18

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show, by his good behavior, that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not boast or deny the truth, for such false wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, and of the devil. Where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is disorder and every evil matter. But wisdom from heaven is first of all pure, and also peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by peacemakers.

Proverbs 3:3-4

Never let loving-kindness nor truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and a good reputation in the sight of GOD and man.

Hebrews 6:13-20

When GOD made a promise to Abraham, he swore by himself since he could not swear by anyone greater. He said, "I will surely bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you." And so, after patiently enduring, he obtained the promise. For men indeed swear by one greater, and an oath is final confirmation in a dispute. GOD was determined to show to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his design, so he confirmed it with an oath. By two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for GOD to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope is an anchor for the soul, secure and firm, and enters the inner sanctuary where JESUS entered for us as a forerunner having become a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

And now, brothers, concerning the coming of our LORD JESUS CHRIST and our gathering together to him, we ask you to not be quickly shaken in mind nor troubled - not by spirit, not by a word, and not even by a letter from us, saying that the day of CHRIST has arrived. Let no one deceive you in any way because that day will not come until the falling away occurs and the man of sin is revealed - the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called GOD, or that is worshipped, so that he himself sits in the temple of GOD, pretending to be GOD. Do you not remember that when I was with you I told you all about these things? So now you know what is holding him back, for he will be revealed in his own time. The mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but there is one who is holding back now, until he is taken out of the way. Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the LORD will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy with the brightness of his presence - which comes after the work of Satan, with his power, signs, and lying wonders, and with the deception of wickedness for those who are being lost because they did not receive the love of the truth that they might be saved. Because of this, GOD will send them a strong delusion so they will believe the lie, so that all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but rather found pleasure in unrighteousness.

1 John 5:10-12

He who believes in the SON of GOD has the testimony in him; he who does not believe - GOD has made him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that GOD himself gave concerning his SON. The testimony is that GOD gave us eternal life, and eternal life is in his SON. He who has the SON has eternal life. He who does not have the SON of GOD does not have eternal life.

1 Peter 3:8-12

All of you should be of one mind, being compassionate, loving as family, tenderhearted, and courteous. Never repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but rather with blessing, because to this you were called that you may inherit a blessing. As the Scripture says, "He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from speaking evil and his lips from telling lies. He must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil."

Revelation 5:7-14

Then the LAMB came and took the book from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the LAMB. Each one had a harp and were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, singing "You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals. For you were slain, and with your blood you purchased us for GOD from every tribe, language, people and nation. You made us kings and priests to serve our GOD, and we shall reign upon the earth." Then I looked again and heard the voice of millions and millions of angels around the throne, and the living creatures, and the elders. And they sang in a loud voice, "Worthy is the LAMB, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" And I heard every created thing in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea and in the sea, say, "To him who sits on the throne, and to the LAMB, be praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever!" The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped.

2 John 1:1-5

From John the elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not only I, but also those who know the truth. Because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever, may grace, mercy and peace from GOD the FATHER and from JESUS CHRIST, the SON of the FATHER, be with us in truth and love. It has given me great joy to learn that some of your children are living the life of truth, just as the FATHER commanded us. And now, dear lady, I urge you, not with a new command, but the one we have had from the beginning: and that is to love one another.

Titus 1:6-9

An elder in a church must be blameless, and the husband of one wife. His children must be believers and not known for being wild or rebellious, for an overseer, as a steward of GOD, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant, or quick-tempered, not a heavy drinker, not violent, and not a pursuer of dishonest gain, but rather given to hospitality, and one who loves all that is good. He must have self-control, and be righteous, devout, and disciplined. He must hold fast to trustworthy teaching so he can encourage others with sound doctrine and refute those who contradict it.
