1 Timothy 3:8-13

Deacons are to be men of sincere conviction, respectable, temperate, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must be committed to the truths of our faith with a clear conscience. Let them be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they are blameless. Their wives must be respectable, not slanderers, temperate, women who can be trusted. Let each deacon be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. Those who serve well as deacons earn a good reputation and gain confidence in their faith in Christ Jesus.
