Steer clear of worldly, godless chatter, because it only leads to more and more ungodly behavior. Such talk spreads like gangrene, as in the case of Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have veered off course from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, wrecking the faith of some. Nevertheless, the solid foundation laid by God is sealed with these inscriptions: "The LORD knows those who belong to him," and "Everyone who names themselves with the name of the LORD, must turn away from evil."
