Romans 4:18-25
Against hope, Abraham hoped and believed and became the father of many nations, just as God said it would happen. His faith was not weak, even though he was a hundred years old, and knew that both his body and Sarah's womb were as good as dead. He never wavered in unbelief regarding the promise of God. In fact, he found strength in faith, and gave glory to God, because he was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. Therefore, it was credited to him as righteousness. But the words "it was credited to him as righteousness" are not just for Abraham's benefit, but also for us, for God will credit righteousness to us for believing in Jesus our Lord who was raised from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins, and raised to life for our justification.
