Matthew 12:46-50
While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. Somebody said to him, "Your mother and brothers are outside wanting to speak to you." Jesus replied by asking, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" Stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, "Behold, my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in Heaven is family to me!”

James 1:26-27
If you consider yourself religious but don’t control your tongue, you deceive your own heart and your "religion" is in vain. Religion that is pure, genuine, and acceptable to God the Father, is caring for orphans and widows in their distress, and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Psalm 25:4-7
Cause me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth, and teach me; for you are the God of my salvation. I put my hope in you all the day long. Remember, O LORD, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ago. Remember not the sins of my youth or my rebellion. LORD, remember me according to your loving kindness for the sake of your goodness.

Isaiah 58:13-14a
If you keep from breaking the Sabbath and from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if the Sabbath to you is a delight, the LORD's holy day honorable; if you honor it by not going your own way and not seeking your own pleasure or speaking idle words; then you will find your joy in the Lord.

Hebrews 1:1-4
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in many ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us through His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the entire universe. The Son radiates the glory of God and is the exact representation of His nature, and He sustains the universe by the power of His word. After having, through Himself, purified us of our sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in Heaven. He became as much superior to the angels as the Name He has inherited is superior to theirs.

2 John 1:6
This is love: that we live in obedience to His commandments. And as you have heard from the beginning, His command is that you walk in love.

Matthew 20:20-28
The mother of Zebedee's sons, James and John, came to Jesus with her sons. She knelt before Him to ask a favor. “What is your request?” He asked. "Grant that one of my sons may sit on your right and the other on your left in your kingdom," she said. But Jesus replied, "You don't know what it is you are asking. Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?" He asked them. "Yes, we can," they answered. "Indeed you will drink from my cup," Jesus told them, "but who sits on my right or left is not mine to give. Those places belong to whom they have been prepared by my Father." When the other disciples heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. So Jesus called them together and said, “You know how rulers in the world are full of themselves and like to flaunt their power? With you it will be different. You want to be great? Help. You want to be first? Serve. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve others, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

1 Timothy 1:15-17
Here is a trustworthy statement that deserves universal acceptance: Christ Jesus entered the world to rescue sinners, of whom I am the worst. Yet for that very reason I received mercy so that Christ Jesus could display His great patience, with even the worst of sinners, as an example for those who would believe on Him for eternal life. Now to the eternal King, the immortal, invisible, and only God, be all honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:6-7
Don't worry over anything; instead, with earnest and thankful prayer, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God, which is beyond human comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead they put it on a stand so it can illuminate everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light be seen by everyone. Let them see the good things you do and praise your Father in Heaven.

Psalm 34:15-18
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cries.
The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to erase their memory from the earth.
The LORD hears when the righteous cry, and He delivers them from their distress.
Near is the LORD to the brokenhearted. He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to erase their memory from the earth.

Near is the LORD to the brokenhearted. He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that nothing has the power to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord! Not death. Not life. Not angels. No rulers. No powers. Neither what happens today nor what may happen tomorrow. Nothing from on high, nothing from below. Nothing in all creation!

Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me, all who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest. Put on my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.

1 John 5:3-4
Loving God means keeping His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome. Everyone born of God overcomes the world, and we achieve this overcoming-the-world victory through our faith.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
Aspire to live quietly, minding your own affairs, working with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders, and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Matthew 10:34-38
Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword, dividing a man from his father, a daughter from her mother, and a daughter-in-law from her mother-in-law. You will have enemies right in your own household! For anyone loving father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me. Anyone loving son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.

John 13:34-35
Jesus said, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. Having such love for one another will show the world that you are my disciples."

Psalm 91:1-2
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.

Mark 8:34-37
Then He gathered the crowd along with His disciples and said to them: "Anyone wanting to follow in my footsteps must first deny himself, then take up his cross to follow me. If you would rather save your life, you will lose it. If you are willing to give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel - you will save it. For what good is it for a man to gain the whole world, but forfeit his own soul? What can a man give in exchange for his soul?"

2 Peter 1:2-3
May grace and peace be yours in abundance through your knowledge of God and of Jesus our LORD. By His divine power, He has given us everything we need for life and godliness. We have received this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by His glory and goodness.

Psalm 105:1-5
Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done. Sing to Him, sing His praises; tell of all His wonderful deeds. Glory in His Holy Name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Seek the LORD and His strength; continually seek His presence. Remember the marvelous things He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He has proclaimed.

1 Peter 1:3-7

Psalm 145:8-9
The LORD is merciful and compassionate; slow to anger, and rich in loving kindness.
The LORD is good to everyone. He showers mercy over all He has made.

Romans 12:1-2
In view of God's mercy, I plead with you, my brothers, as an act of intelligent worship, to give Him your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. Don't let the world squeeze you into it's mold, but let God change the way you think. Then you'll be able to know the will of God - His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Psalm 85:7-13
Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation. Listen to what Jehovah God says: he promises peace to His people, the faithful; but let them not return to their foolish ways. Salvation is near those who fear Him, that His glory may dwell in our land. Kindness and truth have met; righteousness and peace have kissed. Truth springs up from the earth; righteousness looks down from heaven. Yes, the LORD will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield it's harvest. Righteousness goes before Him, and prepares the way for His steps.

Matthew 9:9-13
Jesus saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. Later, Jesus joined several others, including tax collectors, 'sinners,' and his disciples, for dinner at Matthew's house. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill. Go and learn what this means: 'I desire kindness and mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

John 20:24-29
Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the other disciples when Jesus came, so they told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it." A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them this time. And though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here. See my hands? Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." So Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Luke 10:25-37
A lawyer, wanting to test Jesus, asked, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Jesus replied, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?"
The man answered, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind, and you must love your neighbor as yourself."
"Correct," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."
Then the man, wanting to justify himself, asked Jesus, "So, who is my neighbor?"
Jesus replied with this story: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest came along, but when he saw the man lying there, crossed to the other side of the road to pass him by. Then a Levite going down the same road saw the man, and he too passed by on the other side. But when a Samaritan came to the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. The next day he gave two silver coins to the innkeeper and said, 'Look after him. When I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expenses you may have.' Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked?" Jesus asked.
The lawyer replied, "The one who showed him mercy."
Jesus told him, "That's right. Now go and do the same."
Jesus replied, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?"
The man answered, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind, and you must love your neighbor as yourself."
"Correct," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."
