Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have discovered the one Moses and the prophets wrote about: Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is from Nazareth."
Nathanael asked, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?"
And Philip said, "Come and see."
Jesus saw Nathanael approaching and said of him, "Behold, a true Israelite, a man of integrity."
"How do you know that about me?" asked Nathanael.
Jesus answered, "I saw you under the fig tree before Philip found you."
Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel!"
Jesus said to him, "You believe because I said I saw you under the fig tree, but you will see greater things than that. In fact, you will see heaven open and angels of God ascending and descending to the Son of Man."
